There are many features on the front of a magazine which
make the customer buy the product. In this case, the main reasons are the
people on the front cover and the masthead in the top left. When people see the
Arctic Monkeys on the front cover, they will want to read it as the Arctic
Monkeys are music icons. NME is a massive Magazine brand. Having that name in
the top left corner is the reason why most people buy the magazine every week.
People buy the magazine one week, they like it so they keep buying it.
NME have used a good advertising technique by using
visual syntax. This is how they position things on the front cover. They
immediately attract your attention with the logo in the top left. They them
attract your attention with the smaller
headlines to the left. You then read down the page until you get to the price
on the bar-code at the bottom. The company hope that after reading the whole
page, you think it will be worth the
price. They use a quote at the top of the page to give you an idea what is
going to be in the Magazine.
The quote on the front of the front of the Magazine
makes people want to read more. “THE PRESS GOT EVERYTHING WRONG” in block
capitals. Not only does this stand out it makes people want to find out more.
Another advertising point on the front is the big AM. This is Arctic Monkeys
logo. All there fans will know this. The “AM” logo is recognized worldwide.
This is there main advertising point for this particular magazine.
