Annotated Front cover
This is my final front cover. It has my masthead in the top left corner, my headline at the bottom and my cover lines on the left. I have added a pug to grab the readers interest in the top right. There is also a banner at the bottom to highlight something i want the readers to see even if they don't buy the magazine. The picture on the magazine cover is good however, It could have stand out more. I have made sure there is no text or other images overlapping the picture so it looks neat and tidy. i have put an outline on most of my text so it stands out to the background. this makes the text much easier to read. I have also tried to attract the students by adding a pull quote. If the students agree with the quote they might want to find out more about it. You can do this by reading inside.as you can see I have used the colours red, white and black as these are the Plantsbrook colours, any other colours would look silly as they don't match the schools uniform/colour scheme. I think one of the most important features of the magazine is the small motto underneath the masthead. It reads "be the best you can be" which is the Plantsbrook motto.
Annotated Contents page,.
As you can see this is my contents page. On my contents page i have included 'features' 'Interviews' 'pictures' and a 'Title'. I took my picture knowing the layout of my contents page. this is so i knew what angle i should take the photo at. I have the main title, then i have two sub titles 'features' and 'Interviews'. these are the two sub categories I have chosen. they are there to attract the reader. Having Conor Jarvis on the front will make many people want to buy the product as people are interested in what he has to say. As you can see I have stuck to the Plantsbrook colour scheme by using the couloirs red, white and black. It now looks smart to parents and teachers who open the magazine onto this page.
Planned Photo shoot. Why I picked each picture
Why i picked each picture.
On my magazine front cover, there is a picture of a girl doing her work. This is a good sized picture and is shaped well for me to put my headline and masthead in. I took this picture to use on my front cover. I took it from the right distance, so it is not too big or too small.
I have used two pictures on my contents page. One of them is a teacher teaching his class and the other one is two students doing there work. I designed my contents page layout before i took the two pictures. This was good so i knew what size and angle to take the pictures at. I knew to take one landscape and one portrait.
On my practice front cover. I took a close up of a sixth former smiling. It didn't really fit the page very well.which is why i changed the picture and the logo to fit the page better.
To take my pictures i used a tripod and a digital camera. ounce i had taken the pictures i put them onto the computer and uploaded them to my Blogger.
